How to clear your aura with kundalini yoga

kundalini yoga aura yogigemsYesterday I taught a kundalini yoga workshop incorporating kriyas and meditations to expand the aura. It’s one of my favourite topics to teach on because when it comes to clearing and refreshing the aura, kundalini yoga is spectacularly effective – a sense of expansion is felt immediately. And as our aura projects and protects us, this is a pretty important aspect to keep in good shape.

In my research for the workshop, I found this rather poignant gem in the Aquarian Teacher’s Manual: ‘It is difficult to focus on your higher feelings and sensitivity if you feel fearful and unprotected. If the universe seems hostile, uncaring and non-responsive, it is easy to become filled with cynicism, despair and hopelessness. In that depressed state, it is impossible to sense the fullness and possibilities of life. It is very difficult to solve the very problems that upset you.

‘Those feelings occur when the aura that surrounds the body is weak and small. The human aura can extend out to nine feet in all directions. If it drops below four feet, we tend to become depressed. We cannot fight off negative thoughts from within or from the environment. If we can extend the aura, the outer arc of the aura acts as a filter and a connector to the universal magnetic field. It is that outer circumvent field that preserves the integrity of the aura, the furiously active blend of thoughts and feelings that emanate from our body and mind.’

There are so many joyful things we can do to maintain a healthy, strong and vibrant aura in kundalini yoga. Here are a few powerful techniques that work with the aura for protection. There also are some great kundalini yoga kriyas like Sahibi Kriya to Master your Domain and this beautiful kriya to Balance the Aura (you’ll need this track for the final meditation).

But a super powerful meditation that we practiced together yesterday with magnificent results was the Divine Shield Meditation for Protection and Positivity. It uses naad yoga, the yoga of sound, to build up a protective shield around the electromagnetic field. With this shield in place, we are confident and courageous, and we gleefully wrap our arms around our life experience, with all her challenges and joys and rollercoasters and stagnancies. When our aura is strong, we are truly invincible!
